Quantum Gravity without General Relativity

چکیده

The quantum field theory of gravitation is constructed in terms of Lagrangian density of Dirac fields which couple to the electromagnetic field Aμ as well as the gravitational field G. The gravity appears in the mass term as m(1+gG)ψ̄ψ with the coupling constant of g. In addition to the gravitational force between fermions, the electromagnetic field Aμ interacts with the gravity as the fourth order effects and its strength amounts to α times the gravitational force. Therefore, the interaction of photon with gravity is not originated from Einstein’s general relativity which is entirely dependent on the unphysical assumption of the principle of equivalence. Further, we present a renormalization scheme for the gravity and show that the graviton stays massless. e-mail: [email protected]

General relativity and quantum mechanics are conflicting theories. The seeds of discord are the fundamental principles on which these theories are grounded. General relativity, on one hand, is based on the equivalence principle, whose strong version establishes the local equivalence between gravitation and inertia. Quantum mechanics, on the other hand, is fundamentally based on the uncertainty ...

Does Time Exist in Quantum Gravity?

Time is absolute in standard quantum theory and dynamical in general relativity. The combination of both theories into a theory of quantum gravity leads therefore to a “problem of time”. In my essay I shall investigate those consequences for the concept of time that may be drawn without a detailed knowledge of quantum gravity. The only assumptions are the experimentally supported universality o...

Time in (2+1)-Dimensional Quantum Gravity

General relativity in three spacetime dimensions is used to explore three approaches to the “problem of time” in quantum gravity: the internal Schrödinger approach with mean extrinsic curvature as a time variable, the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, and covariant canonical quantization with “evolving constants of motion.” (To appear in Proc. of the Lanczos Centenary Conference, Raleigh, NC, December 1...

From Quantum Hydrodynamics to Quantum Gravity

In the presentations at the Session ‘Analog Models of and for General Relativity’ at 11 Marcel Grossmann Meeting, general relativity has been considered as emergent phenomenon. General approaches to emergent relativity have been analyzed. Particular example when gravity is induced in the low-energy corner of quantum condensed matter of the proper universality class has been presented. It was su...

From Classical Theory to Quantum Gravity

While it has been generally accepted for decades that general relativity and quantum theory are inconsistent, and that therefore general relativity must yield to a new theory of gravity compatible with quantum principles, the way to the new theory is still very unclear. A major obstacle is the lack of any experimental indicators as to where general relativity might break down. I speculate on th...
